Similar to calipers, avoid dropping or impacting the depth gauge to prevent damage to the base and probe. After use, wipe the base, probe, and guide rail with a clean, lint-free cloth to remove dust and oil. Apply a thin layer of anti-rust oil to moving parts (e.g., the probe rod) to reduce friction and prevent corrosion. Store it in a dry, dust-free case, away from high temperature, humidity, and strong magnetic fields. For digital depth gauges, remove the battery when not in use for a long time to avoid leakage damage.
